About
Ali Pervez Mehdi
This passionate singer is the son of the late renowned Pakistani artist Ustaad Pervez Mehdi. Trained in classical music by his father and grandfather Bashir Hussain Rahi, Ali began performing at the age of 16 and has since traveled the world as a singer, composer, and lyricist, with a deep understanding of musical arrangement. Ali has collaborated with famous composers such as AR Rehman, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, among others, and has sung alongside artists like Hari Haran, Sukhwinder Singh, Sadna Sargam, Chitra, Atif Aslam, Indian Ocean, Rekha Bhardwaj, Mika Singh, Daler Mehndi, and many more.
While most of his tours have been in the West, his fan base in the Indian subcontinent grew after he sang the song “Chadha De Rang” from the Bollywood blockbuster “Yamla Pagla Deewana.” Through his company Boss Menn, Ali produces music with a Western touch, blending 80s-style synths with a dark, lounge-jazzy ambiance. He has also opened for the renowned American singer Erykah Badu and aspires to collaborate with his dream band, Zero 7, in the future.
“Listening to good music is also an art, which is learned as well. And that’s what my father taught me. Listening helps to explore, and exploration should never end.” – Ali Pervez Mehdi
