Discover how consciousness might be the foundation of reality itself. Explore Dr. Bernardo Kastrup's analytic idealism, HeartMath research on electromagnetic fields, and how your inner world could be shaping your outer experience from the inside out.

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand consciousness.

Not just what it is, but how it shapes the reality we experience. Because if everything begins in the mind… as many world thinkers and researchers suggest, then what exactly is the mind composed of? And how does something intangible (like a thought or feeling) influence something tangible (like a physical object or our environment)?

Lately, I’ve been exploring the work of Dr. Bernardo Kastrup, and it’s both fascinating and… well… challenging.

He’s a former CERN scientist turned philosopher, and his theory – analytic idealism, essentially proposes:

  • Matter doesn’t exist independently.
  • Everything we perceive as “external” is actually part of consciousness.
  • There is no physical world apart from in the mind.
  • And that one unified mind? It’s the substrate of all things.

Nature. The universe. All of it is consciousness taking on form in different ways.

He says that matter is how mental processes appear externally. The brain doesn’t generate consciousness but it reflects it.

This resonates with me deeply.

But there’s something more.

Here’s where it makes you think deeper…

If you’ve ever felt the intensity of a powerful light, you know it’s not just an inner state but something external. The Eureka moment. It opens pathways you didn’t know existed. It shifts priorities, perspectives, responses and outcomes.

So when someone says, “It’s all mind,” I understand. So doesn’t this correspond to what the mystics and our deepest traditions talk about Light being the foundation of being.

Because from my own observations, reality seems to be shaped by something greater.

It’s mind AND heart. It’s thought AND feeling connecting to a deeper reality. Our microcosmic state is connected to a greater macrocosmic state, as above so below.

It’s this inner combination and coherence of the two that seems to interact with the environment in impactful ways.

A Scientific Perspective on Thought and Emotion for our inner world is well put by Dr. Joe Dispenza offering a practical view on this:

  • Thought is the signal we project.
  • Emotion is the resonance that shapes what comes back.
  • When our thoughts and feelings align, we become more attuned to possibilities and change.

This isn’t just a made-up concept. Institutions like the HeartMath have conducted extensive research suggesting our emotional state can influence our electromagnetic field, extending beyond our bodies and effects our surroundings.

Thought initiates. Emotion amplifies and as we form resonance with something greater, our inner world can reflect the Heaven on earth.

So the next time you experience something deeply… love, curiosity, gratitude, wonder, grief… consider those signals to become a moment of your own consciousness reaching out into the unseen worlds.

From the inside out.
